D3 to D4 headlight conversion - headlight wiring
Could any of you help me out with the following at all?
I’m trying to work out what wires to change to complete the headlight conversion all parts are now fitted my d3 had non afs xenon and I’ve gone with non afs 2015 model headlights. All working fine apart from,
1:No high beam when you flash headlight stalk with headlights off ( works fine with them on)
2:No bright drl when start up. Knew this would need a power input upon ignition but unsure where feed needs to go.
3:Indicators flash fine on vehicle exterior but extra fast on dashboard display.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
I'm sure there's information on here from others. But the indicators are due to the fronts now being LED and the car looking for bulbs, you'll need to fit resistors to them.
The headlamp flash issue needs a relay and wiring added to switch the bulb on as well as operate the shutter for main beam.1972 Range Rover Classic 2 door V8

Thanks, I’ve had a good search on here but not found a specific guide or ‘how to’ which I will put up here once sorted, if you have any images or wiring diagrams could you list them here of the relay wiring that needs to be done. As the D3 didn’t have Drl’s at all from new I would think that I am going to have to run an ignition feed into each headlamp to get the bright signature drls to illuminate once the engine is started. If anyone has the wiring diagram for the headlight socket on the back of the 2015 headlamp that would be really helpful below is a pic of the socket on the rear of my headlight

There is also an issue getting the DRL or sidelight LED to dim when the indicator flashes in the way that the factory fitted ones do - I was told this will be needed to meet the new MOT requirements from May onwards by someone last week.Must stop buying shiny toys....

Yes really simple took a ignition feed from the under bonnet fuse box. Tapped into that feed wire underneath the fuse box and ran wiring through to each headlight. So high power drls came on with ignition. Then fed the feed for side lights from the loom into the lower power for the dry so they dim with side lights. Then the rest was done through coding.

I didn't record pin outs. Just used a power probe and with headlight earthed I then put 12v to all pins to establish which was high and low on the DRL.

Yes I found the feed when side lights are on there’s a pin for input from side lights so when engine is on and drls are bright out 12v from a power probe or run a length of cable from positive terminal on battery into any empty pin on the rear of the headlight plug and when the drl dims you’ve found your input. Then wire the sidelight output wire into this pin job done

Been thinking off doing this for 2 years. finally got it on the list.
Deactivated Scandinavian Light setting.
ACC on the pin8 turns on the DRL. With a NC relay on, switched off by the xenon.
So with light switch on AUTO, there is only DRL led in daylight. Xenon (with low led) and taillights at night.
Still one problem thought, with light switch in position 1, the parklight (sidelight you call it?) also is autoswitched. So no parklight in daylight. Have to figure something out to sort that.
