Insurance
Hello all
I’ve just had my insurance renewal quote come through and it’s quite a steep increase from £800 to over £1280. I’m with Admiral with 20yrs NCB. Has anyone got a suggestion for another company to try for a quote on a D4?
Many thanks, Peter.

Best just going on 2 or 3 of the price comparison websites.
Don't try just one as some are owned or affiliated to insurance companies.

NFU Mutual.
They are not on comparison sites and god only knows how their underwriting works, but for the lucky few they are highly competitive pricewise and the best to deal with when you need to make a claim.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Have you called them to tell them you’re leaving and see if they will then get real. I did last year and knocked over £1000 of the renewal of my multi car policy.
Also try A Plan. They are a sponsor of the site.D4 HSE EU6 (Known as Jeeves)
New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!) Sold
Sold Volvo XC90 R-Design (known as Basil)
Sold - D4 HSE (Known as Gerty)
No longer the Old Buses original owner
231,000 miles and counting
05 S manual owned from March 2005
D4 Face lifted
Still original injectors and turbo
V8 Front brakes
BAS Remap, Allisport Intercooler and deCat
EGRs blanked
T-Max split charge
Hanibal Expeedition rack
Prospeed ladder
Duratrac tyres
IID BT
BAS FBH control
I switched to Direct Line 2 years ago when they surprised me by being ultra-competitive, but this year they went up £100. Phonecall got that to a £25 rise but in the meantime, M&S came in at £294 - about £1 more than DL last year.
NFU have NEVER rang back after I go through their "leave your details" system. Think it's the postcode.

Thanks, just gave NFU a call and they quoted £1330. I’ll try again with Admiral, perhaps reducing the mileage on the car might help a bit with the premium….

Don't know why your Admiral quote is so high? We are paying less than £700 (total) for both the D3 and D4 with three named drivers, unlimited mileage, business use and off-road cover included etc.Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE

If you go on his location, then I’d think it’s the postcode that screw up the premium.

I have always found Admiral a bit hit and miss on renewal premiums and a quick phone call usually got good results especially if it was the Nova Scotia office that answered they seemed to be more accomodating in reducing the renewal price I once got a £210 discount on a £519 renewal quote for my lad that had gone up from £470 the previous year"Never keep up with the Joneses. Drag'em down to your level. It's cheaper".
