Use iid on non-registered LR vehicles
Apologies for what may be a daft question. I have a single vehicle GAP iid licence. My understanding though was that I should be able to use the device to just read codes on other LR vehicles. I tried to use it on a mate’s Disco Sport recently and it just stalled. Is there a vital step that I’m missing?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, it's BT and the Disco Sport is on the GAP list. It's good to know that it should be a straightforward plug and play process though. I'll have another go when the opportunity presents.
Thanks.

You might want to check whether your IID is up to date. Their firmware can be updated and GAP releases new firmware every now and then.
As for the rest, reading and clearing codes should work on all supported vehicles whether or not you’ve licensed it. I’ve helped many with reading faults. The VIN lock enables flashing and editing CCF.

Make sure the diagnostic socket is not damaged or contaminated and the Iid tool is fully pushed home, this was the reply and cure from GAP when I had a problem a few years back.It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
