Newbie withDiscovery 4 HSE Steering and Suspension Issue....

Hi, Could not find existing thread/topic similar so started this new.
(If someone is aware of existing thread/topic/can use search functionality better than I can and want to please direct me there, then please help! Thanks. )

Couple of weeks ago noticed twanging noise (technical description Smile ) coming from near side front when going over speed bumps in my estate. Had a look on opposite locks and could not see any tracking arm/bush etc looking loose or gone. Around the same time noticed the steering got really lumpy. Heavy at times, fine at others when turning. Had it in local garage today (non LR specialist) for them to confirm if any steering/suspension part had went, They report the steering fault must be from my steering rack and the suspension twang from shocker.

Just wondering if anyone has had similar issue, as for me, seems too much of a coincidence that if as garage suspects then both have went at exactly same time. Wondering if these are a related single issue, an also if anyone can recommend best place to source steering rack? All help gratefully received. Cheers.

First thing to do would be to get the car into your local LR independant ! There is always play in the components but they shouldn't be making those sort of noises. Lower steering column is a common issue but so are worn lower front arms... without a proper diagnosis you could just be firing the parts cannon at it and spending money you don't need to.

Several good indies in your area (Glasgow/Edinburgh) and if you don't mind the run up to Dundee there is always MMP Land Rover... highly recommended Thumbs Up
I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!
