Oil leak (with Pics) - any hints where this is from?

Hello there,

Just spot this oil leak earlier on today (or rather oily marks) at the front passenger side. Not sure if I should be worried. Any clues where this might be coming from?

It’s fairly normal for there to be a bit of oil in intercooler.

Remove plastic trim
Put tray a bucket on the ground
Loosen hose off and pull off. To drain any oil out.
Then refit.

Wipe off surface so you can monitor in future

Are you sure its engine oil? Power steering and gearbox oil cooler pipes both run on that side.

It does look black enough to be engine oil - admittedly on black surfaces though.
Either way, once the cover is removed, it will be clearer where it's coming from.

After 15+ Years the hoses shrink and the clips become loose.

Drain any oil out and retighten.
May as well do it while you are in there.

While you have the trays off take a look at bottom of the cam cover for some tell tail front crank seal weep/leakage... Had a intermittent drip which drove me crazy until I had the belts/pump changed.

Plus 1 ^^^

At the same time would it also be worth checking the diff breather has the updated one to prevent any possible leaks from the diff seals if it’s blocked

I would say gearbox oil cooler connections are the most likely source, often weeping or leaking oil. The top one is easy to check and tighten, lower one less so.
