Does anyone know a good quick fix or have i got to

CV boot corroded? It's rubber? Did the fail sheet say CV clip corroded, or perhaps CV boot split?

Anyway, it'll need fixing either way. Yes it is dooable, if you've got jack, tools and some knowledge.

You can still get split boots that do not require any disassembly

Split boots are a Censored
I tried on an old VW of mine, they just fell off. Much better to do it properly, and if the bolt has been out of shape for long you might have to do the CV joint it self as well.
