Oxygen sensors Petrol engine

Hi all

I am intermittently getting the following fault PO137 Oxygen sensor circuit low voltage Bank 1 sensor 2 which I clear with my GAPIID BT

From what I gather this is the drivers side rear sensor (RHD in New Zealand - same as UK)

I have the 4.0 L Cologne V6 petrol engine. VIN SALLAJ436A*****
Vehicle has done approx 159,000 km (approx 100,000 miles)
Vehicle first registered in Japan 2006, imported to New Zealand about 6 years ago (I've owned for 5 years)

I want to replace all 4 O2 sensors as I'm thinking if one is failing the other 3 are probably not far behind

It appears that the 4.0L V6 petrol and 4.4L V8 petrol use the same O2 sensors?

I am looking at prices on a couple of UK sites (LRParts.net and Britishparts.co.uk) for Denso branded sensors
MHK500840 (x 2) for the front O2 sensors
MHK500910 Left hand rear
MHK500960 Right hand rear

I'm a bit confused, as one of the websites for the two rear ones it states "Does not fit the north American Spec". I've also looked at a USA based website (British Atlantic) and they sell two kits (with all 4 sensors) one kit for 2005-2006 and the other kit for 2007 onwards.

My question - is my D3 be USA Spec or UK spec given it was first registered in Japan? Also why the difference (is it different emissions laws, or petrol/gasoline octanes?)

thanks
Blake

It won't be UK spec as the D3 was not available with that engine in the UK, we only had the V6 diesel and V8 petrol.

Hi Pete - Thanks for the link, but I'm still a bit confused.

On the link there are two options for the 2005-2009 Cologne V6 4.0 Petrol (see attached screenshots)

My exhaust system looks like the 2nd (from AA000001) in that it has part number 5F240 - damper. Is that just a RHD thing though?

I entered my VIN into another website which gives you the specs of the car, and under emissions it says my vehicle has Eco class exhaust Euro 4.

I'm therefore thinking mine is not NAS spec.

Do I order
LR014010 or MHK500840 (Front O2 sensor x 2)
LR014011 or MHK500910 (Left rear)
LR014012 or MHK500960 (right rear)

Are there any of the Aussie guys out there with a V6 petrol who have changed O2 sensors?

thanks
Blake

My hunch is that it would NOT be American spec

Maybe just order one sensor to avoid mistakes ?
If necessary look at the denso part number when removed and order from denso

Front and rear sensors are very different designs , and therefore I would expect a different length of service.

Great idea. It's the right hand rear throwing the code (Bank 1 sensor 2)

many thanks
