There are only ~300 HSE V8s, a lot of the non private V8s the services and military bought will be a different spec or base spec.

Iv been on this case for a while now, tfl only accept lpg converted taxi cabs iv got a fullfat rangerover converted to lpg it's a petrol engine but they refuse to accept any other conversions. Don't even bother trying to get anywhere with tfl.

Have now bought a V8 D3 to replace the wife's tdv6 it's the only car that transports x5 adults x1 wheel chair and x2 dogs in comfort.

It's not about clean air............

Just register as a taxi driver and list your car. Who said you had to actually accept a fare? Worst case i f you need proof then take your neighbor some where once a month!

there is another way to beat the ULEZ, import a D3 V8 from Japan the cars have no rust and are mostly in fantastic condition, when they are registered in the UK the importers have no emissions data for the car, so the car falls into 2 tax bands 0-1500 cc and above 1500cc tax is £290 per year so is exempt, my F2 i6 HSE is from Japan - worth a thought
 D3 4.4 V8 2005 sadly now gone
Freelander 2 i6 HSE now gone was a very good 4x4

United States 2008 LR3 4.4 V8 HSE Lux Auto Zermatt SilverLR3

I knew the V8s were rare in the UK, but did not realize the number were so few. 300, wow.

They are plentiful here in the States, and they are all SE or HSE trim. Would there be interest in importing those even though they are LHD? I’d trade straight across my 2008 HSE Lux for a decent 110.

[quote="LT"]I don’t know anyone who has converted a diesel engine to run on lpg. /quote]

A company that I worked for a few years ago run a large fleet of HGV's that had some converted to run on CNG for a trial (which ultimately they did not go any further with due to various issues).

They still used some diesel - IIRC it was about 10% which was needed to ignite the gas as diesels don't have spark ignition.

One of the other issues was that the exhaust gas temperature was much higher which cause turbo issues.

My old D3 V8 which is ULEZ complaint (LPG) is currently for sale on Ebay/marketplace etc.

I have another V8 D3 now (wish I hadn't sold the prev one), but they are great engines and super reliable.

Good luck.
