Throttle delay

Hi again (sorryyyy)

I get a jolt in my D3 manual when I put my foot on or off the throttle. I have to gently raise and lower my foot for it to not be noticeable.

It also happens with cruise control. It jolts slightly when turned on. Unless I’m going down in speed as I activate cruise control.

Is this normal? Or is this a sign to say somethings not right please?

I know I’ve got to gradually use my foot with a manual, but it does seem a bit jumpy, also does not happen if I drive other cars.

Was thinking maybe the throttle fault code (attached) or maybe prop has twisted slightly maybe and created a slight delay to the rear wheels perhaps?

Ideally rather not avoid it any more as it’s annoying

I would start by replacing the accelerator pedal motor! It would make sense.

Hi and thank you

I’ve searched the code but it doesn’t specify it being the throttle pedal

Do you recognise it as a throttle pedal code? Or are you recommending a starting point?

Also looking on here there doesn’t seem to be any threads specific to how to do it.

Do you know if it being a common fix or a difficulty level please?

This code is under body control, not engine ecu, I guess!

On Jaguars you can adjust the steering column and the pedals in and out electrically.
This is the position of the pedals, not whether you have your foot on the throttle!

But to answer your question, it's not difficult to change the pedal. Disconnecting the connector is the most difficult bit, then just a couple of bolts

It sounds to me more like transmission slop rather than anything to do with engine control. Note it could be any part of the drivetrain or indeed the transmission / torque converter. Do you know when/if the transmission oil has been changed? Thats a good place to start and is more of a 'service item' than a repair. Try driving in low range, if the jolting is worse, then it's almost certainly the transmission (or transfer box calibration). Don't be tempted to clear the adaptions, that should only be done if the solenoids or Mechatronic is replaced. It's possible it could be suspension bushes, but as you don't mention any knocking in the body, it's unlikely to be those.

ETA - just noticed yours is a manual transmission so some of the above will not apply - it could be the dual mass flywheel though, that can give the symptoms you describe. Unfortunately the only way to properly check it is by removing the gearbox.
