Using a pulley block means twice the operating time but roughly half the load, have you measured the rolling resistance?
To be honest, it sounds to me like you'd be better (safer) off using a Tirfor & ground anchor, as soon as you involve a vehicle (you have told your insurer you've fitted a winch, haven't you?) then it's all beer & skittles until something goes wrong - then they want winch & cable inspection & test certificates, training records, risk assessments etc. etc. which just ends up as a pi$sing match between the vehicle insurer and the third party liability insurer.

Is that tirfor ground anchor a giant cork screw?
I do have 35mm wide 1 meter long rebar stakes for my marquee so I could just drive one in the ground and shackle a chain to my tow bar?
I’m sure I’ve seen a pair of metal wedges that get chained to the front towing bracket and lock in to place if the car is dragged forwards? Are these something Of use perhaps? Disco 3 SE Manual 2005 V6 2.7

I don't have any photos to hand, the ground anchor is two metal plates in a 'V' with a 6T bow shackle joining them and six 25mm x 1m Rebar 'pins' driven into the ground through holes in the plates. Provides enough anchorage to recover a stuck Disco3 so dependent upon the rolling resistance of your load, one 35mm Rebar pin may well be enough anchorage for a Tirfor or a secondary anchor for a Disco3.

I’ll use my stake system they are going nowhere. Got a petrol whacker to drive it in and an extractor to pull out after nice and easy

Switching the compressor won’t make much difference as it can still use air in the tank.
If you are going to switch the fuse that ppl remove to check which corner is sinking then that makes more sense

I just tried it engine off with 3rd button fob to control suspension
Lowered on to a few bricks and worked perfectly
Going to test how much draw the winch uses next Saturday on site engine off with a snatch block and see if the battery can cope easily or not and go from there
So far this is working sweet and saving space and weight and time
I may even keep the winch rope out and wrapped up under the bonnet as this will save about 5-10 minutes each job - saving the need to reel it in and out each time. As I can’t activate the clutch as I have to remove the lever to fit the winch under the bumper
Does anyone know what is a safe draw reading with engine off please?
I’ve got 2 multi meters so will surely get a solid reading
