If you make one, DO NOT SCREW OUT the top section of the jack as you can end up like this if the car moves.
… which I found out the hard way. Luckily, it still held the car securely but I won’t be repeating that exercise.
Added bonus was that the adapter fits neatly in the case the jack lives in.
If you fancy making one be aware that whilst I think this adapter is good and safe, it’s up to you to decide if both the design is good AND your version is safe to use.[/quote].

Looking at various types of bottle jacks after having to use the chocolate scissors over New Years. What is the max height required to lift the Disco? The Hilka one is cheap and looks ok, but it's not available here in Norway, and it's not easy to find a genuine LR one either. Talked to a breakers, and they wanted £150 for a Sprinter one

Hi
I think is was around 435mm under the wishbone and 535mm under the chassis , hopefully someone else will be along to confirm that for u
Plus I’ve personally got a 1’ Sq foot piece of flat plate-metal , that im going to put into the boot of the disco for the bottle jack to be bolted onto, for times when the road surface isn’t very good and by having it bolted to the bottle jack to reduce the risk of it tipping , will just separate the plate for storage in the boot and then just have a few nuts/ bolts in a container stored with the bottle jack
Of course have my SGS 3 x ton trolly jack / axle stands for jobs whilst on my driveway
Have the sprinter merc bottle jack , indeed know it’s a bit more expensive than some but prefer to have something decent particularly with the D3 being such a heavy vehicle
Hope that helps

Can someone please just clarify, when lifting with a bottle jack are you supposed to have the air suspension on low (access height), or high (off road). I remember a couple of years ago trying to jack up car to change a wheel and really struggled to get enough clearance and getting quite frustrated.
Thanks Blake

It doesn’t really matter.
The lower the car is the more jack pumping you will need to do though!
I just leave it in standard height

I had a Sprinter jack and the quality is excellent. Really struggled to get an adapter machined though and gave up in the end.
I've now got a 2t trolley jack which fits nicely behind the 2nd row seats. The adapter for this jack is easier to machine as there's no internal bore needed.
