Brembo brakes

Hi guys

So my rear brake is basically Censored and churning aluminium dust over my alloys and I’ve been told I’m going to need to replace the whole rear brakes - discs pads and callipers with motors.

Got me thinking if I was thinking of changing them in years to come for Brembos, is it worth doing that now and are they good and or easy enough to just do a straight swap out for?

Or are they more a front brake and the rears are best left.

I suspect a typo - rotors makes more sense.

The brakes on the D5 are very good. I see no advantage in changing from standard except the cost of OEM parts.

OP already said discs and pads, then 'callipers with motors'?

The EPB is an electric motor mounted on the brake caliper, one per side. It'd be unusual to need the motors replacing as well as the calipers.

I suppose it does actually make sense. The EPB on the D5 is built in to each rear caliper as some sort of motor that applies the pads to the disc (it's not a drum brake like the D3/4).

It makes sense because that's how it is!
I'd be interested in how the diagnosis of 'replace everything' was reached, metal dust on the wheels indicates something is touching a moving part that it shouldn't be touching, without photos I wouldn't want to make a guess, informed or otherwise, it does sound like someone is covering all eventualities though.

Cheers guys. I mentioned in my past post I’d tried to update it from D3 but for some reason it doesn’t save and I can’t see a D5 option there. Sorry for that but posted it in D5.

Yes was told needed motors too, don’t distrust the guy at all but I did take pics so happy to share on here anyway. I do need a second opinion as the guys I bought from are refusing to pay, I’ve only swapped the d3 for d5 7 weeks ago so very large bill already sadly.

I think the argument was if the disc was rubbing and epb/calliper ceasing it could have distorted and become dangerous? Obviously can’t change one side without another either Sad
