All it does is provide a "feed" (i.e. a special web page) which "readers" (web browsers, PDAs, Smartphones, etc) can use to find out when information has been updated on the site, and this can be repeated for multiple sites 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

I've read the Wikipedia article and it seems a bit of torrent of information.
When I want to know if a site has been updated I click on the little blue arrow in the tool bar. Still none the wiser but I guess what i haven't had, i won't miss.

yes also read the help section in the yellow box
was wondering how you lot who use it find it beneficial or better than watching the new posts. I read up on it used it and found it of no use so I must be doing something wrong, also as it updates new content on the fly so to speak, do you miss stuff if you haven't accessed your pc/mac for a few days.

If you don't think you can use it then you don't have to - it's as simple as that
I don't use RSS feeds because I don't yet have a device which supports them, but I would find it extremely useful if, when out and about, I could keep track on new topics posted on all the sites without having to specifically visit each one in turn 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

totally agree and think using it on a home PC is not advantageous so have never been interested before, however due to my impending trip it may interest me but dont have the fancy pda's etc but could use my phone (I think) and would like to know from those that do use it as to how they do and how they find it. it may prove useful to me but I dont fully understand it.

As you say CW, I think it's probably best for one of those who DO make use of it to sell it to you 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
