2006 tdv6 not starting when cold/cool

Hi everyone. Here’s a strange one. I’ve had issues where the car doesn’t start for 5-10secs when cool or cold but starts perfectly when hot. It also happens when I go for a drive and then leave the car sitting for a couple of hours before driving again. As this was happening over winter (in aus) I had the glow plugs replaced but the issue has raised its head again. Any ideas where to start looking.

Cheers

have you measured the power the the glow plugs takes?

There are two banks, left and right, you can use a clamp ampermeter and check power consumtion.
It's about 30 amps each

No I haven’t yet. I’ll grab a clamp meter and check the current draw (after checking the fuses and relays)

Thanks

Check injectors as well, same symptoms as duff glow plugs. Thumbs Up

If you need any pointers on checking glow plugs Robbies guide is excellent.

Exactly.
Glowplugs probably failed, but not causing this issue.
