lost communication with transmisstion control module
Hi,
if I check the fault with IID I get alwals the fault U0101-00 (2) Lost communication with transmissioen control modul.
It's a D4 from 2009, 2.7l, manual transmission.
Haven't noticed any effects yet. What is it, can it be fixed?

Hi !
The most possible cause is a weak battery. When the voltage of the battery fall down under a certain value, there are some lost of communication with some modules (i.e. EPB).
Never had the message "Low battery - Please start engine" ?

He doesn't have a TCM, that's the problem! It's probably a coding issue in whichever module is reporting the DTC.

Error keeps coming back, but as I said, I haven't felt any consequences yet. I always delete it too..... and as you say: forget it....

Do the selected gears display OK? it does look like the IPC copy of the CCF is incorrect, it shouldn't be looking for the TCM.

There should be! - sounds like that's the issue, IPC not coded correctly therefore not displaying selected gear and throwing a 'lost comms to TCM' DTC.

Hmm... The Disco3 definitely shows manual gears, I honestly can't remember if the Disco4 does or not and I can't find any mention of it in the later Disco4 owner info manuals - although there's no mention of the manual gearbox either to be honest!
The CCF is stored in the BCM & the IPC, not sure if IID can switch between the two, generally the 'master' is stored in the BCM with the backup in the IPC. Personally, I'd check the IPC version is correct and copy from the BCM if not - but I don't use IID so can't help you with that.

I am afraid that this will not work with IID.
How can I check the version in IPC?

There are very few d4s with manual boxes they were at the very start of the model and maybe using up D3 bits and pieces as some also had 2.7 lumps in . In that respect they need treating as a D3
