How long do TPMS Sensors last? |
|
So, the spare wheel TPMS sensor has failed. The previous owner bought some replacement TPMS LR066378 x 4 sealed in bags. How long do these things last, they don’t have a use before date. Also how easy is it to replace DIY? If I deflate the tyre, can I swap it out easily enough or do I need to take it to a tyre shop to get them to do it?
I’ve broken beads on MC tyres before using the ‘long piece of wood’ method, and I have some tyre levers in the shed. Anyone attempted this?
On a separate note, the left curtain airbag deployment fault is still present code B0022, where is the faulty connector likely to be, under the passenger seat?
Need to get these niggles sorted, that and a new coolant expansion tanks as I’m getting low coolant warnings.
I’m pretty sure that I could give up my job and still have plenty to keep me busy!
Thanks

Can't you just remove the spare to get it through an MOT? It's not compulsory to have a spare but it has to be legal if fitted, although my son tells me they don't even bother looking at the spare.

TPMS batteries are rated for ~13 years, give or take... deflate it, so it registers as low pressure, then take it out of the vehicle. That'll clear the TPMS warning.

I can do that. As it shows up in trees dash, the only way to deal with it is remove it or replace the Sensor.
I might have a go at replacing the sensor, see how easy it is to break the bead on a 20” SUV Tyre.
