Which Jag engine will fitt my 2006 2.7 D3?

Hi

I have still problems with my engine. Or I'm hypersensitive. Who knows Laughing
How ever, I'm thinking of buying a second engine, building it up from the ground, and afterwards replacing my engine with it.

It is very often mentioned here, that you can use a old jaguar engine to replace the Landrover engine, but I couldn't find details about which type of engine would fit.

even within Landrover there a different types of 2.7 TDV6 engines. (Small crankshaft screw/big crankshaft screw)

Does anybody know which engine I could use?
And is it important which gearbox it used to have? Or is the bellhousing connection all the same?
Mine is a 6speed Auto.

There are only a few Discos here in Austria. And the engines are all crap.
Some Jags with a 2,7.
And some Peugeots, but they have all high mileage.

I found a jag which has the steering wheel on the right side....so nobody wants it here in Austria.

Would this engine fit?

best regards

The French cars have the wrong gearbox bell housing.

That jag looks suitable. It’s what people use.

The car is without engine Neutral the description in the add is a little bit flimsy about that.
They want almost 5000 for the engine.

engine from an JAG S-type is the easyest.. from the introduction till mid ‘08 (‘09 and later have different fuel parts)

Although EU4 in a JAG it has the same EU3 parts fitted as your LR D3 EU3

You “only” have to make it LR by transplanting the ladder frame and sump
+ PAS pump, fan, axle/bearing, starter, turbo, etc.. a complete list is in my topic in the link above..
(You can skip the first 2 pages, when i was discovering Smile )

Look for one as “ Low mileage” as possible (maybe germany, poland, lituania?) and change the shells while you are there anyway when transplanting the ladder frame.. as the oil pump and timing and HPFP belts …
Soooooo easy when the engine is out

Ps i even use the JAG injectors until this day… now 50K later… With a 240Hp 520nm mapping on it.. a charm to drive
 Best regards

great writeup of the work you have done! thx for sharing!

good engines are hard to find, and quite expensive. now i know what to search for, its easier to find a descend one.

And I hope that my engine survives another year Rolling Eyes
So that I can build up a new one

keep in mind, that everyone who did the effort to remove an engine, for selling it, does know what they are worth or why they are wanted.

tip:

cheapest option is maybe... buy a complete S-type tdv6 JAG...

first: you can hear it running, so you kind a know what you buy
second: cheaper , diesels cars are less popular now.. sellers only want to get rid of the car and generally do not know it is wanted for a LR (and therefore maybe worth more to LR owners), and since you do the "elbow grease"work, you save money on some dismantling labour..

if you have a car from another country (france, swiss, germany in your case) you don't have to registrer it in Austria.. if you scrap it as far as i know.. (you only need export papers from country of origin)
