Use my IID on neighbour's RR

Hi guys,

I have an IID tool for my D3.

I am going to help my neighbour replace the battery in their RR Sport. Can I do the battery reset on their car without 'adding' their VIN to my tool? Or will I need to pay to add it?

imho those are two different tools for those casr and I do not think it allows anything on single vin license apart from code scan but also not 100% sure of it

Ok thanks for that. The L494 (RR Sport) is listed on the list of supported vehicles in the manual so I am pretty sure we're OK in that aspect. 2005 D3 V8

You should be good to go I use mine on 6 different landrover cars and only vin unlocked on mine and that only allows advanced stuff like ccf

Battery reset is a basic function

Please post back if you are able to do basic functions without a purchase on your neighbours RR?


I was always under the impression that it wasn’t possible to do anything at all.

If the VIN doesn’t match they don’t chat to each other. A mod a week until I have nothing to improve or add.

I've used mine ( after speaking to pat via email) on a relatives d5 but only to read and clear faults .
Don't know if that helps you or not . Why not check out gaps website I'm sure it tells you on there. If not email them and ask they are always very helpful. Just remember time difference from canada. Thumbs Up 1996 Defender -died (now in landrover heaven😇)chassis to ashes , rust to dust !

Yeah I have also used it to do fault reads on friend's cars but nothing more complex. I think I will indeed drop them an email because I don't want to do half a job. 2005 D3 V8

My IID is/was registered to my Disco and RRS, but was able to adjust suspension and test run the FBH on a friends RRS and another Disco no problem
