| 2.7 tdv6 oil filter valve |

Hi everyone. I recently purchased a new oil cooler (nissens) and it came with an oil filter installed. On the top of the filter was a spring valve type arrangement that can be removed. All of the filters I’ve had in the past (mahle, genuine etc) haven’t had this “valve” and it wasn’t there when I bought the car. What is this please.

It's probably the bypass valve. It's supposed to live inside the cap and not come out with the filter.
