Discovery 4 upgrade thread
Hi guys. gave a brief intro in a different post but thought I would make a new one to document the work I have done and plan too.
got myself a 2013 disco 4 hse with 72k miles. I'm an auto electrician by trade so will put my car experiance into modifiying this.
car came with the facelift parts already on but with the lower spec non led lights. also had too much grey trims for my liking so ordered all the black parts and got to work.
below is the car as I got it.

First thing was to replace the headlights with the led version aswell as replacing the d3s xenon bulbs for the much brighter led type.
will update this as I go along

got some bits done today. hydro dipped a few trims in gloss black. installed the lcd ac panel.
very happy with most of it especially the ac panel but I think I made a bad call on dipping the radio control surround in gloss black so that will go back to chrome.

Looking great!
I’m biased of course as I have done exactly the same (apart from the signature LED headlights). Our cars look identical!
The rear LED reverse lights are a great improvement on dark evenings. The puddle lights (under the doors that double as footwell lighting when doors are closed) are the only interior LEDs that require resistors.
I even changed the glove box lighting to LED… they are the hardest to do.
Appl CarPlay / android auto is a must have improvement… I couldn’t be without mine, I’ll pop a link below.
As an auto sparks you will want a gap IID tool also (if you haven’t already of course). A mod a week until I have nothing to improve or add.

Hi thank you for the reply. sounds like great minds think alike.
next for me is install a ghost immo since im an autowatch authorised garage it works out cheap enough.
the speaker upgrade kit arrived so need to install that.
i am currently trying to find a way to change the mood lighting into a rgb setup. will update on that when i make some progress
i am really trying to do something that is not common. seen some defender style headlights for this. may take a punt and get those.

Yes they look good!
I’ll be very interested to see your thoughts on those if you go ahead.
I went with the fog light LED’s that double as DRL’s from powerful U.K. I like mine to look a bit different from the rest out there too.
Those headlights will certainly do the job ! A mod a week until I have nothing to improve or add.

having had the lcd climate system in for a while I can't really find any cons tbh. looks fantastic and has worked flawlessly so far.

Hi guys
Been a while since iv posted on this (busy season for auto electrician's)
Still waiting to install the premiun harman retrofit but will be done very soon.
Changed the alloys to the 22 turbines and dropped the ride height by 10mm
I am quite happy with the exterior but the interior felt very outdated. Since my car has the ambient lighting pack i decided to open the door cards and see if i could incorporate an after market kit. Lots of lights later i am super happy with the results.
Next on the list is to install the fridge from a l320 and then finally add the new amp and 3 extra speakers.
Pictures of the progress so far

Have you tinted the head lights? always liked the look but unsure if it affects the light output?1972 Series 3 full of character

Yes headlights are lightly tinted but the lumens issue has been dealt with by installing ds3 LED bulbs. If anything there actually brighter with the tint than the original xenons without tint.
