The dreaded Restricted Performance message! |
|
Hi,
My sons Discovery 4 3.0d HSE 2010 has started throwing up the Restricted Performance message on the dash. Most of the time there is no perceived difference in performance. On starting the car the next time/day the message has cleared.
We have cleaned the MAP sensor in the throttle body.
The codes it seems to generate mostly are
P00AA intake air temperature sensor 1 circuit - Bank 2.
P0102 Mass or volume air flow circuit low input.
We can see the flows of both MAFs, at idle bank 2 is about 70kg/hr bank 1 0.7kg/hr, these change and increase significantly when on full throttle.
We have also cleaned the MAF sensors, changed the fuel filter.
Yesterday the car stuttered on cruise control for a couple of seconds and the restricted performance message appeared. No performance restriction felt.
P2263 Turbo/Supercharger boost system performance was logged.
This evening we will take the throttle body off and give it a good clean out with brake cleaner and hopefully change the bank 2 MAF.
Has anyone got any other suggestions?
Thanks

Check inlet manifolds for cracks. Spray some water on them and look for bubbles when on tickover. Just been through this and it was RH manifold split. 2010 HSE
Full service genuine parts.
Front and rear pads.
Turbo oil drain pipe mod.
LED interior lights upgrade.
Both rear door actuators.
Tailgate handle/ switch.
Facelift grille and rear lights.
Fitted cross bars.
New rear discs and pads.
New RH inlet manifold.
New air con condensor.
New battery.
New EGR pipe.
New front discs and pads.
New propshaft.

Hi,
We have checked the manifolds and pipework on the pressurised system and cannot find any leaks. Lubricated the turbo actuator lever on the primary turbo cleared the fault codes and yesterday in the warm weather it performed beautifully.
Have ordered new o rings for the throttle body as these were quite hard on the manifold ends.
Will see what happens now.

The dreaded Restricted Performance message! |
|
Hi,
The message appeared again yesterday when he was driving home on the A46. I read the codes and the only one in the engine ecu was P2263-21 - Turbocharger/Supercharger Boost System Performance- Signal amplitude < minimum - intermittent.
The freeze frame data from my ICarsoft scanner is as follows;-
Accelerator pedal position sensor - circuit D 15.686%
Accelerator pedal position sensor - circuit E 15.294%
Air Charge temp 29degC
Air flow rate from Mass Air Flow sensor - Bank 1 0.3g/s
Air flow rate from Mass Air Flow sensor - Bank 2 31.9g/s
Ambient air temperature 23degC
Barometric pressure 101Pa
Boost absolute pressure - raw value 97.397Pa
Calculated load value 99.608%
Commanded exhaust gas recirculation 80%
Control module voltage 14.6V
Engine coolant temperature 88degC
From the above I think it is happening on either very light throttle or overrun.
Started it up after about 30mins after he got home and the restricted performance message had gone but the DTC was logged/stored in the ECU.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what might be the problem ?
Thanks

Hi,
The fault code was cleared on Monday evening, yesterday no error/fault messages on the 22 miles to work. On the journey home the P2263-21 appeared 2 miles from home. The freeze frame data very similar to the previous post.
I think we will try a new manifold absolute pressure sensor.
Thanks

Don't know if you've found this thread - might help with the 2263s
https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/p2263-restr...88481.html
In my case I rarely get a 2263 now by avoiding very light throttle use.
Doesn't appear to have hurt my MPG figures, so all is good.
Cheers

Hi,
Thanks just read the thread. I will ask my son not to be gentle with the throttle!
Normally I am telling him to slow down!
Thanks

Hi,
Over the weekend we changed the throttle body o rings to manifolds and intake end, change the MAP,and the o ring on the pipe next to the charge temperature sender. Today there was no Restricted Performance message on his journey to and from work.
Not wanting to be over optimistic, it does appear that the car is cured! Fingers crossed!

Hi,
Can anyone tell me what the pipe connection next to the charge/boost temperature sensor on the inlet pipe just before the throttle body is?
Thanks.

charge air cooler temperature sensor |
|
2014 SDV6. A routine check as shown up 1 fault (P007A-17 Charge air cooler temperature sensor circuit-Bank 1) Can anyone point out where this sensor is located and is there a identical sensor for Bank 2. If so, i could swap the sensors to eliminate if its a faulty sensor or a wiring ecu problem. No lights or messages on dash.
The sensor fits in the pipe before the throttle body. Turned out to be a poor connection (hadn't been reconnected properly). Erased fault code. All good.

Hi,
So the car is due its MOT, so would fail with an engine management light on. We have read lots about it being a faulty sensor in the housing so bit the bullet and have started to change the filter housing.
What a pain this job is. The rear fuel connector just seemed to refuse to release. Took us approx 4 hours to get it to release, only came apart when we had removed the filter mount from the metal mounting bracket. Then the struggle getting the metal mounting bracket out over the crossmember mounting bracket, crossmember removed.
I think that LR install these before fitting the body, so I suppose it must say in the LR manual, step 1 - remove body, step 2 - replace filter assembly.
