Does this mean we would be wasting our money if we went for the EGR blanking thingie Group Buy????

That's excellent - "TorqTune keeps your engine clean"
Can't wait till I can finally wrangle permission for the remap from SWMBO Dr. Ian Malcolm:

Transgenic tomato anyone?

Mrs DSL was not at all keen on getting done but now she thinks it's one of the best decisions I've made!
Mrs DSL sat rocking in the corner with ear defenders on does not constitute acceptance!I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Trouble is EGRs can fail open... so if not blanked off will probably do so eventually....Cheers

Despite opinions on here, EGR failure is not that common...
There are more tailgate latch motors replaced than EGR's Just remember we are only a small (but better informed) sample of Disco3 owners
EGR supply 'problems' are not due to a 'heavy demand' but due to the just in time supply chain philosophy, the majority go to the engine build with only about 5 - 10 per week going to the parts network. How quick you get one (and it CAN be next-day) depends upon how your dealer categorises your repair

I wouldn't abuse my LR contacts in that way
Unless, for example, I needed a front diff and was due to leave for Morocco in two days and there happened to be six other D3's in the queue in front of me..... in that hypothetical case, i'd get one delivered by special courier by 1545 the same day.... hypothetically of course

I think the main reason people are looking at fitting the EGR blanks is to prevent any recirculation of exhaust gas, as the only benefit is to lower certain emissions. An added benefit is to prevent excessive flow of the exhaust gas in the (probably rare) event of an EGR valve failure, causing a drop in performance. It also saves a big repair bill for the increasing number of owners of vehicles out of warranty, as once the EGR is blanked it doesn't matter if the valve operates correctly or not. Mine always shows up an EGR position fault code so at least 1 valve clearly has a problem, but there is no problem with performance now the blanks are in. Judging by the black deposits on the EGR tubes in the inlet manifold, it's no bad thing to stop that getting any worse either. It would probably be wrong to encourage EGR blanking on here as it's not good to be releasing more NOx into the environment, but of course Mr Brown is spending the extra 200 quid we all now pay in VED (in UK at least) to mitigate that anyway
Anyway, this thread is all about TFC's remap and not EGRs so I'll shut up and carry on enjoying my TorqTuned Disco3 that breathes fresh air 100% of the time Previously:

The problem is, regardless of whether the EGR's are blanked or not, once a DTC relating to the EGR's is stored, then the engine will operate at a lower performance level - tuned or not. So there are two solutions
1 get the dealer to sort the sticking EGR and leave the system intact
2 blank off the EGR and make sure that the EGR is operating correctly yourself
Either way, with or without a remap, the engine will operate as intended
