EUR3 in EUR4 Car?

Hi all

So good 6 weeks ago my oil pump tensioner left go. Mechanic now looked and one side justbrockers, other side, a complete mess so looking at replacement engine route. Car is 08 registration so I should have known better BUT I assume is a EUR4 engine.

Now, have opportunity of a 05 EUR3 engine as replacement.

Are there issues fitting EUR3 in?

Thanks
Mat

If you use the ancillaries of your eu4 engine, hpfp, egr, injectors (inj. will work with either engine though)
Wiring, etc. Etc. Etc. And replace them to the EU3 engine , You can ….Thumbs Up

As you could use a JAG engine doing the same….

Tip: if you plan to keep the Motor for a while, consider the replace the aircon pump, turbo now, as checking the crossover pipe now and if leaking or getting bad, replace that one too now you are “there” being body off jobs anyway…
 Best regards
Harold

Ok, thanks. So that means between a EUR3 and a Jag engine it’s about the same work then. If I can get a Jag engine a fair bit cheaper and quicker seems that’s the way to go. Alternatively top end rebuild as that may be about same time as well.

Thanks

Yup…

If a JAG engine is used you also have to transplant the ladder/frame but
Ladderframe is easy especially when fitting also a new oilpump (do that anyway, with all alternatives)

I would take the lowest mileage engine i could get…. And since most JAG had an easyer life…..

Ofcourse there are never 100% certainty’s with replacement engines…..

For me it worked out fine for me when i transplanted a 60K mls JAG engine in my Discovery
