First air con complaint of the summer

So with record temperatures, my aircon has decided it doesn’t want to work. First time I’ve used it since last year when I re-gassed. Fans are just blowing out warm ambient air.
No error codes showing and I pressure tested this afternoon and it’s in the green.

Any ideas?

Apologises and hope u don’t mind as also found mine is doing the same with just blowing hot

Engine hadn't been started for 6 x months , but now it has and checked belt isn’t slipping , wonder if the clutch isn’t engaging ??

Once again hope u didn’t mind me following ur thread

Also just found this which hope it’s also useful

https://media.disco3.co.uk/gallery/albums/...ration.pdf

Plus I wonder if the flap that changes from hot to cold is operating , maybe that’s also happening with urs

Here’s my latest live data as a comparison as well for u , also don’t have any error or low pressure warning codes

I did do an air con complaint over a week ago. Maybe if it’s not worked for a while the pressure switch could be at fault. If you have diagnostic tool you may be able to check the live value of pressure in the system.

Lol, Many thanks Lee, so would that then mean urs reqs recharging if it zero or the compressor isn’t working ??

hopefully Kevin will be along soon with some live data to see what his also reads

Meant to say, when I turn the temperature to cold and turn the fan speed on I notice the engine revs slightly increase , plus just remembered the last time it was refilled the garage put some dye into the system, but assume the pressure is ok because there’s no DTC fault code

Hopefully with the combined information can resolve each AC issues

Sorry, was outside getting live values, screenfuls of them but I think the important ones:

Ext temp - 100 f
Air intake actuator feedback - 0.7%
Evaporator temp - 116 f
Sensor voltage 5v
Air con pressure - 45 psi - goes up to 75 psi when active
Right blend actuator position - max cold
Interior temp - 119 f
Left blend actuator position - INVALID
left & right set temp - 57.2 f

Potentially issue with left blend actuator?

Hi Kev

Great idea on what you’ve selected for live data , would It be useful if i do mine tomorrow as a comparison and see if my left blender is also the same , assume you’ve got rear AC, isn’t fitted on mine

Plus just found this , regarding a HVAC reset , hope it’s useful to u

With ignition off press and hold the ECON & RECIRC buttons whilst turning ignition on (no need to start car).

The control module will then compare the current HEVAC actuator motor positions with the values stored in the module and will indicate an error by flashing the ECON LED.

If there are no errors, the LED will go out and the system will function normally.

To confirm that there are no errors, turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, then back to the ON position.

Observe the operation of the programmed defrost LED.

If there are errors present, the programmed defrost LED will flash and the system will attempt to calibrate itself.

Plus just thought is using the gap iid if it’s possible to move the blend motors one by one

just taken a screenshot of live values on the gap iid , so at least we will know what we can see live values on

Looks like there’s no options to instruct things to move etc on the AC system

Kev - the system is low on refrigerant so you must still have a small leak from somewhere. In this heat you should be seeing somewhere nearer 140-160psi when running or at least 80-90psi not running.

Hi NC, I checked the pressure this afternoon and it was showing in the red so bled it a bit down to green, may top back up in the morning.

I think it’s deaf the left blend actuator. Showing invalid as per picture when temp dial is at lowest temp, goes to intermediate once temp dial is over half way but stays intermediate when temp dial at full. Right one however goes “max cold”, intermediate, max hot for low middle top.

I suppose the question is, should that only affect the temp coming from the left blowers, and not everywhere? As the automatic climate controls each independently. If it’s blowing hot everywhere shouldn’t the fault be earlier in the system, where the air for both sides are sourced?

Mine was reading 40 psi last January. And was ice cold yesterday.

You need to run aircon regularly, ideally every journey. This prevents the seals drying out and leaking. Usually, thanks to Sod’s law, in the most inaccessible place.

Use it or lose it, I’m afraid. Thumbs Up

What do you mean by showing in the red? Are you using one of those regas kits from Halfords? If the system was working and it was a blend motor fault you would still have a low evaporator temperature but your evap temp is reading higher than outside temp…

Pete - 40psi would be bang on for ambient temps in January, remember refrigerant base pressure changes with ambient temperature (among many other factors).

Hi,

Flatlander had posted some figures on another post recently Bow down

https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/air-con-pressure-table-201271.html

I had my aircon charged up a few days ago and have been using the figures and IID to check the
external ambient temp, interior temp and system pressure
with system off, to see if its holding the charge ok, so far so good Smile
this morning it was 34*c, 44*c and 112psi

the figures may help you, mine did have a fault logged "system pressure below allowable range"

Thumbs Up
