New genuine engine replacement SDV6 - 3.0 Diesel
How long would it take a main dealer to replace a SDV6 LR genuine engine please?
Is over two months an unreasonable amount of time? have no idea.

If they can get an engine, I wouldn't imagine more than a week.Richard

So is that if it needs a new engine it should only take a week when an engine has been ordered and arrived? Is it difficult to order a new engine at the moment? Shortages? Assuming there are other components needed.

I can't help with those questions. Some of the experts will have a better idea about availability.Richard

There's a lot of stuff to be ordered with an 'engine' - they pretty much come bare, timing belt, HP fuel pump, water pump, EGR valves & coolers are fitted, everything else has to be transferred - all the new bolts, gaskets and seals need to be in the workshop before the new engine can be fitted. Some workshops won't even remove the old unit (to preserve the mobility of the vehicle) until all the parts are on site. It could be one gasket, bolt, seal - or a turbo that is holding up the job, whatever it is, they'll be wanting it out of the car park as much as you do.

think its more to do with they cant get an engine...supply on many things are in chaos due to many factors...the workshop space required to do the job is considerable so i cant see them starting until all factors are in place...are you getting it as a freebie or paying

Mine was 10 weeks. Its mainly down to volume they are doing and staffing levels. Mine was in a que waiting to be done of about 8 vehicles ( yes all engines). Engines are pretty much available as rebuilt in Grantham , you wont get new!!
