Towbar with NATO hitch for D3?
I want to tow my military (Sankey) trailer with the D3 which has a factory fitted quick release 50mm ball hitch. Has anybody converted this type for a NATO hitch, or would I be best getting the trailer end of things converted to a standard fitment ?

Send RLD (aka Uncle Ray) a PM ...he has done a conversion on his D3 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Foundry4x4 are doing a NATO hitch for the D3, think it may be through Bearmach? Don't know the details, but worth giving Steve a ring at Foundry.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Maybe we can do something with our hitch to increase ground clearance and so you can keep your NATO hitch.
I think it could aesily be done with attachment to the main plate, just remove the tongue receiver and bolt on. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Does the LR receiver hitch accept standard 2" bars then?I'm not so good at giving advice...may I offer you a sarcastic comment instead?

Great ideas for my NATO hitch, thanks ! Looks like I can keep using my trailer without lots of ironmongery cluttering the car...

To end this story, thanks to Ray [RLD] who makes a fine bit of kit that will probably outlive the car and to Slimer who kindly did a frosty detour to deliver it this morning. The only sting in the tail is the price of Landrover's USA/Can special part to quick-release it into the chassis. Anyway, this is a bombproof trailer arrangement, with heaps of ground clearance. Now all I need to do is a quick makeover of the trailer with a pot of paint!
