EML its EGR anything else to check B4 changing it?
Hi,
Orange EML on last week, plugged in IId and fault code P0490-00 (6c) EGR control - circuit high.
cleared fault and watched live values engine warm and running for:
Valve 0 command (0%) and position (5%) Valve 1 command (0%) and position (5%)
also egr throttle command (5%) and position (11%)
when I turned the engine off I could see the command figures "dance" around and Valve 1 position did the same "dance"
(the graph view looked like a saw tooth pattern as the valve opened and closed)
But
valve 0 position stayed at 5% and graph flat lined
I started the engine again and the same happened all figures moved except Valve 0 position fixed 5%
tried a can of wynns EGR cleaner via the intercooler hose but no difference.
reading up on How to change your EGR valves Disco Mikey
is there anything else I should do/check next
or change valve 0 which I think is the O/S, R/H valve
Should I only go for a Valeo EGR which seem to vary £150-£230 so where to buy one?

Have you considered blanking the EGR’s and having them deleted from the software? Once they’re blanked and deleted they’re done for the life of the car, replacing them will inevitably happen again……

After the fire I had with my 2009 D3 I would 100% go down the line of blanking them on a D3 and removing the butterfly.
Only downside is the warning light which will need to be cleared before an MOT with an IID or similar - if you patch the software you don't see it but I never have as its a 2 minute job to clear it and it normally stays off for a day or 2 before coming back.
Biggest benefit is the massive reduction in sludge inside the manifolds and inlet assemblyMust stop buying shiny toys....

Hi,
I have thought about Blanking and getting the patch from PB as the EML came back on the next start up and knowing my luck if I cleared it on MOT day it would come back on while it was being tested
But the other side seems to still be working ok and the cost to change my R/H EGR (£160)
against the blank (£?) and patch (£180) not much in it
I checked and cleaned the MAP sensor while I was doing the cleaner
(PeteK it was the aerosol type not the fuel in tank additive stuff )
and that was quite clean so thought I would stick With the EGR's
Although I may still do a bit of reading about blanking and the butterfly's
