Thank you!
Well I've done me D3 in! I've p/exed it against a Audi A6 Avant 2.7 Le Mans diesel for collection in 3 weeks. Anyway first of all, many thanks to everyone for such a wonderfully informative forum which has saved so much time and money! The advice offered within this forum is first class combined with sheer expertise and wit to boot. I'm really sorry to change as my D3 has been one of a few cars that I've still enjoyed even after 2.5 yrs, which is quite a long time for me. So, thanks all, and I'll raise a glass of Laphroiag tonight to you all.
For those interested in the economics, briefly I bought mt HSE black in Oct 2005 with 11k miles for £34000, sold it today with a forecasted 67000 miles late April @ £16000 ex warranty but with fsh against an Avant as above registered last Friday with under 500 miles on collection. List new is £35500.00 sold at £32000, so £16k to swap.
Apparently a Nov 04 HSE in Glass's guide lists it as £19k with normal mileage, which surprised me somewhat, so 2nd hand values for D3s look ok to me!
Anyway, thank you for putting up with me...it's been so nice for you to have me (as I always say when leaving someone's party!). Still got 3 weeks left mind you.....

Have fun in the Audi... nice car (just not quite as nice as the D3 )
I pitted an A6 Le Mans 3.0 Avant against the D3 recently and went for the D3! I thought the ride was
horrendous and bone jarring. The quality of plastics/satnav system was not up to scratch for a £40k car. For the same money the D3 can carry 7 peeps and go up a mountain. The HSE has all the bits included as standard that are extras on an A6.
Sorry. But you don't care what I think, go enjoy!! 8)
