I would suggest it’s your small secondary battery.
Even though you’ve charged it, it’s probably needing replaced.

A couple of years ago I had my main battery changed and after that the eco light came on.
Changed the secondary battery too and all was well.

Hi again,

I've fitted the small battery and the Eco warning light has now gone out.
I can turn Eco on and off, but have not yet had a stop/start......

Anything else I need to do to get the stop/start working ?
Car is still on LR warranty - do I need to go back dealer for support?

Many thanks

JC

I had software update on a MY16 D4, performed by LRA, which fixed a start/stop issue where the engine wasn’t “stopping”.

I always recommend using LRA in the first instance rather than going to a main dealer. Assuming of course that you have LRA.

You should check your main battery, as that could also need renewing.

But before that, give it a good run if you can, but don’t use heated seats, steering wheel, windscreen etc.

Stop/Start needs to meet the following basic criteria to work.

Battery/Batteries fully charged.
Engine at normal operating temperature.
Outside air temperature between 0 and 40 degrees. Sometimes it needs to be +3 or 4 degrees rather than 0.
No significant drain from audio/heating systems.

There are other factors but those are the main ones.

I don't think it will use start/stop if you have a lot of other things going e.g. fan, heated seats, heated windscreen, air con etc. until it's warm enough and it's happy that it can start again. Maybe this morning it was just too cold. Rolling Eyes

Main battery failing, doesn’t matter how much you charge it if it is not storing sufficient amps SS will not work.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Hi again,

All batteries charged and car working fine.
All except the Eco stop/start.
No warning lights.......
I can turn it on/off with the button.
But no Eco stop/start when expected......
Have I missed something?

Do I have to do some resets through the IIDTool?

Many thanks

JC

I’ve no idea about a IID reset, but I think the stop/start is just very intermittent. Probably due to the many conditions that need to be right as listed by others above. I did exactly the same as you after the ECO dash warning. Changed both batteries and it occasionally worked a bit, but it was very inconsistent Question
