I actually have an original Land Rover gear neoprene holdall bag from years ago, brilliant bit of kit and holds about 100L at a guess. The only thing to go wrong was the zip tag breaking off but a split ring soon fixed that.2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten
I would be interested to see your set up with the 270 Awning etc on the FL2, Ive just got a straight 2.5 x 2 side awning on my FL2 but probably going to add side panels to it for extra protection from wind and rain.

Just Spotted your thread, I've had great luck with the Ortlieb dry bags, few sizes used on various kayaking adventures Zambezi Silver '05 SE, loved work truck and family outings *Sold, Nooooo*

I've used Sherpack 100 Roof Bags, advertised as waterproof and they seem to be, even after four years. They're advertised as 270 litre but have internal & external straps to 'pull down' smaller loads to stop the bags flapping around. I had two on a FR rack, they comfortably swallowed a bell tent, folding chairs, Coleman awning, dog beds and a gas barbecue amongst other things. they have rigid steel along the length so can (and are designed to) be used with just roof bars.

Canoeists use 'lomo' bags. I have them, they work. Think it is www.lomo.co.uk.
Very cost effective and used by motorcyclists.Series one 1949 - in bits, chassis is strapped to the ceiling in my garage (beside the canoe)
