Wondered if anyone had any experience, good or bad, with Rugged 4x4 in Liverpool? I'll need to find someone to do a load of suspension work in the not too distant future (especially given Flack's recent announcement) and don't want to pay full dealer rates.
Please PM if you don't want to post publicly.
(Wasn't sure where this should be posted so went for General forum.) Cheers,
Gareth

Can't comment on that indy, but I have a great LR garage on our side of the water that I use for my old D4 and now my FFRR. Let me know if you end up looking elsewhere D4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten

Who do you use, James? I've recently ditched the local (nr Chester) guy that I used to use after one balls-up too many - I'm giving a different local indy a try this year, but always interested to hear personal recommendations.

I use Ian Barclay
https://g.co/kgs/1jfRu4
The place is a bit of a tip but they are tip top, vehicle always serviced with great attention and no fuss. They are friendly and I think reasonable. Proper LR experts too, time served.
My experience only of course, but I’ve recommended to a few. D4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten

Useful info, thanks. You're not the first person I've seen recommending this place. A year from now is 7-year belt change service time for me (if I keep the D3, that is - seriously thinking of swapping it for a D4 this summer!) so finding someone who I'm happy to trust with the job is going to be on my mind.

Thanks for this, James. Someone else to try out. I'm going to pop my head into Rugged at some point this week (it backs on to where we do MMA training) to check it out, especially as its much easier for me to get to - heading t'other side of water is just an additional faff in terms of dropping cars off for work! Cheers,
Gareth

No worries. Not sure where your work is ... I go over to our Liverpool office quite often (city centre) and drive past the place on the way to the tunnel and back home so if that ever helps, let me know, I'll give you a lift into town D4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten

All I have used Barry at Rugged and is honest. I've used him for lower arms full service etc. Also had gearbox and EPB work done he's only a small place and is rammed with work so not easiest to get into at times, booking in advance is needed. Also, vouch for Ian Barclay over the water too when I have needed stuff quick.
Let Barry @ Rugged know you have seen the comments on here and sure will stand you on good feet! This community can make or break garages as we well know.

Well, fair play to Barry - nipped in last week to see if they could squeeze me in in a hurry as we're off camping next week and of course, in true LR style, the D4 has gone from a slight knock on breaking to full on banging & clattering, wobbling at speed & under breaking, and then overnight before I nipped to see him the lower steering column decided it wanted part of the action and seized with no warning...
Barry managed to squeeze me in today so its currently having front lower arms, inner & outer track arms, lower steering column, ARB bushes, etc. checked and if needed replaced then all aligned again.
Will update once I get it back... Cheers,
Gareth
