My 2012 D4
Well I have had it for a year and haven't done anything to it yet other than give it a wash.
Yesterday the upper tailgate decided it wasn't going to open, so new actuator ordered today,
also ordered an "Upper Tailgate Internal Release Modification" so I can open the tailgate from inside
The internal release kit looks straight forward to fit, once it arrives I will have the fun of trying to get
the tailgate open to fit the bits.
I will post some picture of the kit and my car soon.
sure this won't be the last thing that I fit or repair

Picked up the new actuator for the upper tailgate and the LRP internal release arrived.
My initial thoughts of the internal release is it is made well and by the look and feel of it, it should last the life of my D4

Getting the upper tailgate open was a bit of a pain as the original actuator failed suddenly, so I had to remove the internal panel while the door was locked.
Having watched a few videos on you tube, I started to follow the steps I had watched, but decided to spend a little more time and remove the flap as well as the rear door card. I then removed the actuator and operated the door mechanism, rather than trying to get the cable out of the casing while it was still mounted to the rear door. I think it was much easier than the way I had seen on you tube.
Rear door now open and time to fit the internal release, I have attached a few pictures I took while fitting the kit

Tailgate internal release
The kit comes with a qr code to get a pdf of the instructions and links to videos of how to fit the kit
The mounting bracket is also used for marking the cutout
The bracket fits neatly into the door
Finished and tested

I’ve got the same on my D3, it’s a nice piece of kit and well put together. Pretty much anyone can install it, even me.
