Intermittent - won't change gear

Hi folks....

Got a bit of an odd one. For some random reason, every few days or so the gears don't/ won't change.

If I out it into command shift, its fine and they change up and down.

Its not all the time and there seems to be no pattern to when it happens. No juddering going up hill so don't think Its the TC.

I have noticed that the rear offside top bulb isn't working so not sure if that would be a factor.

I would be most grateful for any words of wisdom or if anyone else has had this problem and what the fix was

Thanks all 😀👍🏻

Chris.

Tyre circumference i.e. uneven wear can cause gearchange anomalies.

Also, check your brake switch, it may be activating intermittently this can cause the box to hang on to gears, or not change at all.

Lamp issues can cause it to stay in 1st or low gear

Well, I'm going to see what happens, but I had one brake light which was out and something was shorting cos my high brake light was stuck on.

I've changed both the brake light bulbs and it seems fine now. How mad is that!! 🤣

Not mad perfectly logical when you understand how the system works, the brake light switch and bulbs do far more than inform drivers behind you that you are braking, best to always carry spare bulbs and switch with you Thumbs Up
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Same Same

Hi Gents & Lasses,

I am also experiencing an oddity with the gear shift from 4 to 5 and have to use manual shift to knock it up a gear. Also when I accelerate from standing the LR3 pulls to the left.

All this started after I got a flat on the front left and stuck on the fresh tyre. I assume as the tyre is fresh and a different model, could this be the cause of the issues? It does appear to add up, as all the oddities appeared after the tyre change.
