I Think my engines died
Well I think it finally happened, .On the way home tonight, started to loose power on motorway, oil light on, alternator light on, pulled on to hard shoulder, switched off, tried to restart and just get a clunk, starter engaging, not turning over .
Called breakdown co. out, tested battery OK, suspect engine failure. Recovered to work for the night.
Plan is to see if engine turns over with a bar on crank pulley (HOPEFULLY ). If not , what are my realistic options??, 2008 SE with 119000 on the clock

That's a very low mileage for a snapped crank or spun bearings though it is known to happen. A new engine is going to be uneconomical in an 08, but if you can find a Jag "S" Type engine a swap over is probably your best bet.
That said, wait and see what exactly has happened, it may be spun bearings which can be repaired. Although not cheap it's a lot better than a new/replacement engine.
Hope it work out OK for you.
Err...If you were in the mood for a project you could consider shoe horning a TDV8 into it. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

AS GG says. Choose the right garage if you want to keep it. Sometimes keeping a 'known' vehicle is cheaper and a better option than a replacement. New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)

Well its terminal , Got a 3 foot breaker bar on the crank pulley, seized solid. Will have to decide the best way forward now, have to get a cheap runaround for now, as the disco was my only car.

That's dreadful for such a low mileage car. The Jag route is probably your best option as anything else will be uneconomic.
Personally, I would not consider scrapping it but then I can do the work myself and have all the facilities.
Whichever way you look at it it's going to cost you a minimum of £3k, and that's cutting it very tight and assuming nothing else requires replacing. (which there will be)
You could ask on here if anyone knows of an engine (perhaps Disco_Mikey)!yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ
