'Sunroof' banging away over ever bump!! :-{
Heard a new 'rattle' the other week (MY2016 D4 HSE) which has now developed into serious 'banging' and 'clattering' FFS!
Couldn't figure where it was coming from - tailgate/ARBs/exhaust mountings - no idea? Got the missus to sit in the back and noticed when pushed up on 'vent' looking thingy by middle roof light cluster the noise would be muffled.
So - pulled out said 'vent' and prodded up with finger on the mechanism of what looks like the sun/moon roof - and indeed it 'knocked'.
So have jammed some foam between it and the roof liner and it has calmed down for the minute - only larger bumps or slamming the door will make it rattle.
Not happy! - looks like something that requires removal of the headliner and somehow tightening up/replacing fixing brackets - well out of my ability/knowledge/bottle!
Anyone have experience of this problem please?2016MY Discovery HSE - Black

Hi DSL,
Did you manage to solve this rattle?
I have a highly annoying rattle which sounds like its coming form the rear/middle row area. I've stripped the dog guard and boot area a number of times but can never trace it!! Perhaps my ears are wrong and it is the same as yours.
Helpfully the other half claims she cant hear it!

Nope, she was sold a few months later, rattle and all. New owner never surfaced on here, the car had a sticker, so no idea if it was fixed.

Don't think so .... removing vent and packing out with foam has 'proved' the point I think... mind you haven't tested it whilst driving with the vent dangling down.
When the missus pressed on the glass roof the 'knocking' continued.....
I'm hoping someone has experienced this 'knocking' sun roof mechanism with a fix please - or will I be the first ? Thanx 2016MY Discovery HSE - Black

Out in the car today and had the same clattering from headliner going over bumps. Pushing up onto the vent in the middle of the cabin headliner and it stops.
It also stops when I push up on a plastic semi circular trim that fits between the back of the opening sunroof and the blind. Strange, happened all of a sudden today, not noticed it at all before. It's so bad, even my wife can hear it, and so bad I can't live with it.
Wonder if any one has any ideas/experience of fixing it?
CheersGary

Hopefully LR have solved this 'rattle'..... haven't picked the car up yet so don't know how much they've charged or whether its worked but the following sounds promising...
"We've lowered the headlining and found double skin on roof panel bonding failed causing panel buzz.
We've re-bonded the panel & fitted anti rattle sponge, tested for approx 10 miles and all okay."
Hope this helps - but I'll put another response on here if it hasn't worked.. 2016MY Discovery HSE - Black

I had a very similar rattle to the one Del had... fixed it by selling the car I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Thanks for the update Dannyson. I'm really interested in whether it's done the job. It really is a clatter. look forward to hearing positive news.

I'm particularly interested in how they 'rebonded' the panel, if you can find out.
Thanks againGary

'Silence is golden'
So far (only 8 miles) the rattle and clatter has gone ......... 2 hours work apparently - but just charged £50 ..... Not bad for a main dealer I thought ... (car bought from them new and serviced by them etc,).
Never asked how they 'rebonded' the panel - didn't occur to me to be honest. Just so happy to get the car back without the sodding racket ...... (so far..)2016MY Discovery HSE - Black

Excellent news. Excellent price too. Can you keep us informed?
I'm still struggling with finding a solution. It appears that my plastic sounding clatter is caused by a piece of plastic trim fitting between the roof liner and the area roof which is immediately behind the sunroof opening. This trim piece has a semi circular shaped prominence in the middle of the back of the sunroof opening and runs across it's width.
Anyone know what this is for or how it is fitted?
CheersGary

Any further news or developments? Has what they did sorted it? any further details about exactly what they did. I'm gearing up to sort mine out over next couple of days.
CheersGary
