This was a strange one. No I didn't get it sorted, but the noise went away after the cold /icy weather stopped. Mine started soon after it snowed. So it may be worth giving it a little while to see if it disappears (few weeks) before taking any drastic or costly action.
It's worth saying that I did try various soft stuff jammed into the gaps between roof lining and sun roof, which did improve things a little for a bit, but removed these in the end. Gary

Hmmm….thanks for the reply.
Went out tonight and it rattled a few times but didnt seem to do it as much as the other day but on my return trip it didnt seem to rattle at all 
Like yours though when it does rattle especially over pot holes etc placing you hand on the head lining behind the sunroof stops it instantly.
I will monitor it for a while though I wouldnt fancy a long trip with it like it was last week.
