Yokohama Geolandars/General Grabbers |

Is anyone running these? I am looking for alternatives to BFG AT in 265/60/18, as although they are highly recommended they are pricey. I have had Yokohama road tyres before and liked them. I’ve also been looking at General Grabbers, again any info welcome. TIA

If cost is a concern, I’d stick with the BFG’s. I think they’re likely to be tougher and therefore less prone to terminal damage and should wear slower as well.
Thus the initial additional expense will be negated.
I’m currently running GG AT3’s. No complaints, but aside from Goodyear Duratracs or some dodgy budget brands, they were the only choice in the standard size for my FFRR. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

2014 D4 HSE (Almost too bling)-GONE
2015 D4 HSE (A heated what?)-GONE

Check out the Falken Wildpeak AT3W
Very long lasting AT tyre with good road manners. It's an all season with true winter rating (3PMSF). I have run Yokohama Geolander GO15s and was pleased with them, but rate the Falkens more highly for wet grip and road holding so they're a winner for me. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I have had both Yokohama Geolandars and General Grabbers AT3s on my various Discoveries.
I like both, but seem to have more side wall punctures from flints with the Geolandars with similar use over similar terrain. I accept that it could simply be luck of the draw though.
I'm on Geolandars at present, and think that I'll revert to GG ATs on my next tyre change.

I have the Yokohama Geolandar G015 AT as well. They are a good “all arounder”. They have a winter (3PMF) rating, which was important to me for snow restrictions through mountain passes in my corner of the US. The tires are also lightweight for AT, so I get very good mileage —16/17 mpg city and 20-22mpg highway at 65mph cruising.
The downfall of the Geolandar is that because they are lightweight, they are not suitable for rocky tracks or roads where one would need to relieve tire pressure substantially. The sidewalls are simply not reinforced enough to stand up the abuse. That said, I’ve not experienced a flat with them, but I limit our off-road travel to heavily rutted gravel paths —nothing with boulders, sharp rocks, or even deep sand.
The tread is also not very aggressive, so I don’t expect them to be all that great in mud.
My choices for tire were very limited because of the 19” wheels fitted to the car, and I did not want to spend money to “upgrade” to 18” wheels.
If I had 18” wheels, the Falken Wildpeak AT3 would have gotten a serious look from me. 2008 LR3 HSE, 4.4L V8
