engine service and change batteries |
|
I want to change the batteries in my 2016 D4 Landmark and I have searched to find a simple procedure but can’t find one well not any I understand.
1) If I change the stop start AGM battery do I need to tell the computer system I have changed the battery? Some searches say NO some say YES. Would a Foxwell NT510 diagnostic tool allow me do to do this?
2) To change the main battery what is the best way to do this so I don’t lose any setting or codes? Again would the Fox well NT510 allow me to reset the system to show a new battery has been fitted?
Also, I want to do a full engine service on my D4 again will the Fox well NT510 allow me to rest the service intervals?
Many thanks

Can't provide many answers, but do know you are supposed to tell the car when either battery is changed. Even the stop/start battery) according to Disco Mikey who has a succesful garage working on these cars and is very much trusted on this forum. (and according to my local independent specialist). Having said that, many people don't do this and there have not been any issues reported on the forum as far as I am aware (again, on the Stop/start battery replacement ). I had my main battery replaced on my car and they did a reset. Wasn't there to see the procedure.
Most people who do the replacement themselves use an IID tool. Not sure whether the is a battery management system (BMS) reset on the Foxwell tool you mention.
Good luck Gary

The NT520, newer version but now obsolete, only only resets the BMS, no option to change battery type, found that out on mine. Takes a bit of time to clear all the fault codes, option is there for service but never used it.
