Transfer case calibration. Transmission wind up. Driveshaft |
|
Recent problem with 2005 discovery 3 manual
Whist driving and turning either way the steering felt notchy as though the transmission was winding itself up or as if a driveshaft cv joint was worn. No faults showing on dash. Check with scanner and codes P2789 clutch adaptive learning at limit - int, P0900 clutch actuator circuit open - int, U0102 no communication with TCCM - int. Tried to re calibrate transfer case manual sequence but it would not do it. Removed the battery to gain access to the TCCM, unplugged the wiring connections (some were a bit oxidised). Cleaned the connections with contact cleaner, plugged in and out a few times, reconnected and re fitted the battery. Changed the oil in the transfer case (the old oil did not look bad). Topped up the manual gearbox oil as it was low. Whilst under the car cleaned wiring connections on the transfer case. Cleared codes. Tried calibrating the transfer case module again and this time it worked. Now it drives fine. I suspect the main problem was a poor wiring connection not allowing the communication between the transfer case and the Tccm (transfer case control module)
