The old "oil pump & belts replacement" chestnut |
|
Hi All,
So have a Disco3 2005 and am planning to replace the oil pump after reading up lots. I've had the cambelt replaced by local garages and they never mentioned or replaced the pump so maybe I'm lucky:roll:
Anyway, I've never attempted the timing belt before but got a mate who's changed a few cambelts before to help and following Disco Mikey's guide for the belts and Flacks Oil Pump instructions so wish me luck it's my 1st cam belt, steep learning curve
Got the belts, pump (+ oil seal & new cam bolt), tensioners, oil filter etc. from local Marshalls and brought some lock pins off eBay. But I have a quick & probably very silly question from a noob if you don't mind?
Do we need to drain the oil prior to replacing the oil pump? Was going to do an oil change after anyway but sorry if it's a dumb question...
Thanks for all the help and guidance over the years with this Disco, would never have attempted doing most stuff myself without these excellent guides!!!
Hopefully 1 day I can contribute more with my experiences
Cheers
BoB
