Alright so I’ve tested the ground wire for continuity to a bolt on the frame and also directly to the negative terminal on the battery. Leads together give 0.0 ohms. To the battery neg terminal it measures 0.2 ohms.
I also tested voltage drop while running and windshield powered on. Battery around 14.07V and windshield about 13.78V. I’m not 100% happy with that but I’d imagine it’s sufficient.
I’m feeling pretty good about the power supply side and the ground connection, to be honest. Now my issue is with the windshield itself. I measure resistance and this is what I get…but don’t understand why

resistance should be measured with at least one of the car wires disconnected, so it's not reading the other side of the windscreen or anything else.
as I said above, I would expect a good one to measure nearer 1R
Measure the good side to prove it to yourself and prove your meter works etc.
What you are seeing there is some sort of capacitance effect

This was done with both side disconnected from the vehicle. Also, I measured the good side and it immediately went down to near 0 ohms. So there was a difference; I just don't understand the physics of the capacitance behavior you're referring to. Because it seems there is a closed circuit, although not a good one...

it is weird
maybe you broke the DMM
but if one side is doing it differently and going down to zero, that explains it

With the heated windscreen on, at the connectors on the screen, have you measured the voltage across the left and right heating elements?
If so what voltages did you measure?

Both were identical: 14.1v
