I totally agree....
but as there is a tendency here for most people with a initially a very expensive D3/4 's still want to go for a cheapy as far as maintenance and repair concerned
there IS a choice if everything else is still in good nick....
if maintenance is your hobby, time and working on a drive way in the cold no issue, detail repair may be an option, i personnally "been there, done it" in the past.... now time is precious, getting too old for working in the cold for saving 100 quid and not sure it will last for long ...... and learned a lot of lessons, etc... i do take the aja4x4 route these days Best regards

It's not about the cheap option, it is about the simplest option for me. Plus one that doesn't include waste. I don't want to go out and buy a complete new unit if it just means a clean or replacing a simple part.
If the unit is broken I will happily pay for a new unit. Cost doesn't come into it. I just don't like to add to the already burgeoning wasteful society.
