Towing Electrics blowing fuses

I picked up a new caravan last Thursday, on connecting the 12v sockets I discovered I had no side lights/number plate or running lights on the caravan. Indicators, brake, fog and reversing lights all ok.
The old caravan I towed up was fine and I've never had any issues when towing.
The dealership where I bought the caravan from checked the electrics with a battery and their van and both powered the lights on the caravan without any problems.
I checked the fuse block in the left hand side of the boot where the towhitch is stored and found the 5 amp fuse blown, I replaced the fuse which blew within 2 secs when I switched the side lights on.
I've sprayed all the sockets with WD40 and checked the connections inside the plug but haven't found a solution.
It'll be back to the dealers on Tuesday to get the car checked first and then the caravan.
Anybody had anything similar happen?
Cheers

My caravan blows one side, the side lights on car and caravan. It is due to the caravan front light at the bottom having a dodgy connection as it wasn't connected when I bought it so I replaced the lamp but now it is blowing the fuse. I have yet to sort it out (don't really drive at night with caravan).

It sounds like it is your caravan rather than your car if you car is fine wothout the caravn hooked up. Get the dealers to sort it out or try it on another car.
