Vehicle History
Does anyone know if there’s away of getting a vehicles history before it’s purchased. I’m looking at an HSE 05, but want to make sure it’s not been rejected by another customer first.
Thanks

I would simply ask the dealer for the facts in writing and for them to reply in writing by return. If you are unfortunate enough after purchase to find it was a rejected vehicle, you will have the letter and reject the car and claim compensation.

I was told my "Reject" went down to London and was sold immediately - a good way from Chester.
I guess they try to get them out of the area so there's no chance encounter in a car park.
I think my dealer preferred to call the whole episode a "swap" so who know what they are obligated to record or tell? D3 HSE V8...

The dealers has the history available to them anyway on the LR dealer site.

Maybe there should be a log on this site of rejected D3 number plates or VINs. Then we would know which ones to avoid.

Don't see why it should be illegal. There is a site called Drive Archive that people use to record details of their previous cars. Take a look:
http://www.drivearchive.co.uk/index.htm
You can search on reg number, make and model. There are loads of LRs on there and at least one D3.

How about asking for a contact number for the previous owner or a look at the V5? Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

This was certainly a thought when I was looking at buying a 6 month old vs brand new.
I went for new as the price differential was only £1,500 - that's not bad for the first 6 months' depreciation and meant that I got piece of mind (not potentially buying someone else's reject) and 6 months extra warranty, breakdown cover, and extra wear & tear on components, tyres etc.
It was also nice to buy a brand new car- never done it before. The miser in me always seems to go for the bargain 'nearly new' options most of the time. Discovery 3 tdv6 7 seat Buckingham Blue
Had it since new - sold Jun 17 after 12 years and 214,000 miles
