Warranty renewal

Good evening looking at renewing my extended warranty, do I stay with LR approved or is warranty direct a better choice?

i went with WD as they have been excellent in last 3 years of cover and I do not think LR extended really covers crank failure fully from reading posts on here

WD went from £280 to £750 in my case so i have invested in a lump of wood instead Thumbs Up

LR Approved Warranty doesn't cover crank failure or inlet manifolds (or anything else deemed a "manufacturing defect") Rolling Eyes

No one cover what they call manufacturing defects.

I’ve got my Disco under LR extended warranty. Not used them, touch wood. Over £1k per year.

I’ve got the boys Corsa under Warrant Direct. He pays £12 or £14 per month. Can’t remember which.

No excess for either. Both have AA cover.

Recently his O2 sensor went. I dealt with it and was surprised how easy it was. Phoned them up, they answered quickly, they gave me a claim number and passed the details onto a admin company, Prestige from Melton Mowbury.

They phoned me up a couple of hours later and told me they hadn’t a garage near to me, so to arrange for the repair myself at my local Vauxhall dealership if that was okay.

When I take the vehicle in, their service department have to phone WD and quote the claim number, which would be authorised. I then had to pay for the repair and claim it back. Think they have a one month accounting period, 18th of the month.

Hes taking the car in on Friday, so we will see how it goes, but if it’s pain free, then I might consider moving the Disco warranty over as I was quoted half the price of the LR warranty.

i can understand the "known defect" in the early days of a cars launch..when its in its early days of customer use..and no experience of how it performs..
what i find difficult to register is how we still qoute" known defect"many years after the launch....SURELY
in later cars the problem should have been resolved...sadly this doesnt appear to be the case

It’s purely a “get out of jail” card for the warranty companies.

I'm with galwaygreen, stick with LR, I take mine to them for everything including MOT, if the crank goes I feel like I'll be in the best position possible (having been there before, without an LR warranty)
