Diagnosing no start

Hi there,

Wondering if somebody could offer some advice .

I've read the wiki , and a few posts here.

My current problem is the fbh is not starting.

I don't have the gap tool or the webastro cable/software, but I do have the autel ap200 . It reads the codes and I can reset the codes, which I have done.

First uncleared the code, because one of them was due the low fuel , but one of them was the failed start after repeated attempts.

I've been out at zero degrees to make sure the conditions are correct.

By reading the live data, i ascertained that the water pump, combustion fan, and glow plugs were operational, but the fuel pump and external relay control were off at the time the live data was read.

Without the gap tool or webastro software ,.can I do any physical checks to pinpoint the issue?

Is there a way to check the fuel lines to the unit?.would that throw the fault codes.and stop it working .

There's another guide on here that goes through the physical removal and servicing , such as decoking etc. Would this be a possible solution .

I think what I'm asking is , what should my order of attack be?

Many thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure you need at least 1/4 tank of fuel before the FBH kicks in?

Sorry , if I was unclear.

I cleared the low fuel code after I had filled up.

I've also popped the bonnet and you can feel the air intake sucking in as the fan is working . So it's trying at least.

Can I ask?

Does anybody know if I follow Robbie's guide for the stripdown and clean, will that resolve the non ignition?

Is it simply a case that they get coked up which prevents the ignition or will the fault be more technical than this?

If so I may aswell try the strip down than attempt the plug in with webastro lead (which I don't know.how to get hold of)

Was gonna attempt this today but the irony of it snowing like hell and I didn't fancy getting cold and wet. So I took her out for a play in the snow!

You need the Webasto WTT software and the connector harness to diagnose the problem before attempting a strip down.

The software is available online as a free download, all you need is a laptop and the connectors which are unfortunately unavailable from the site shop at the moment. You may however be able to find them elsewhere online.
