Ac compressor oil

Hi guys.

The mighty steed has finally let us down. The AC compressor died and I've replaced it. Yes I will be seeking physicatric help once my face stops twitching and I'm allowed out unsupervised.

My question is I had no ac oil when I plumbed it back in. Is it OK to drive said vehicle to the garage without the oil? The only reason I ask is every other ac system I've messed with has used a electromagnetic clutch while this system seems to be full time driven. Could be wrong but it looks that way to me.

I'm now off to slam more of my more sensitive bodily parts into a draw lined with broken glass Shocked Shocked

Disconnect the compressor or remove the fuse and it will be ok to drive

You have to plug in the compressor before fitting it as the plug is buried up its own backside!
I drove mine about 3 miles total to get it gassed up. make sure you tell them its new pump so they can add right amount of oil.
Iirc new pump instructions state correct amount of oil needed.

D3 a/c pump got to be right up there with worst jobs on these cars.

When I fitted my new compressor I had the same query so phoned the supplier (Denso) for advice.

They advised the new compressor was already filled with correct levels of oil? I was of the understanding that if you had rear air con the compressor oil level was different!!

Took them at their word and drove to get re gassed and had no issues.
