Engine system Failure with no error code

Hi

I have a discovery 3 2.7 tdv6 2008.
Have bought the car last February and had no problems other than in November I suddenly lost all power and car went in to limp mode. Error in system said DPF full read by autel system by road help. Ordered and replaced DPF 2 days ago no problem friday. Then yesterday car went on 'Engine system fault' again. I called a friend he has a Gap IID tool. Hooked it up and found just to codes wrong in the system those where the EGR delete codes Unknown 00 2F.
No other faults stored

I have read the MAP error/fault repair. Cleaned the MAP no difference.

Now i dont know where to look further has anyone got a idea what it could be.

Is it still driving? If you have a fault there has to be a fault code.

Try driving it and then scan for the fault again after it gives up.
Certain EGR faults will cause "limp mode"

ERG

Erg Delete has been done around 1.5 years ago.
Car drives in limp mode hardly moves.
Car has no problems when running stationary nor problem reffing stationary

The "EGR delete" patch doesn't actually delete anything, all it does is tell the ECM not to illuminate the EML.

Can you post exactly what fault code/s you have?

Well to my eyes that looks like a remap failure or possibly the EGR patch failure.

Do you know who fitted the EGR patch and from what supplier? Also, what diagnostic tool are you using?

Gap tool was used to read todays message. EGR blank out was done by previous owner.

I may be wrong but I think that patch is where your trouble lies. If you can find out the supplier it might be possible to undo it. Alternatively you could pop off an email to GAP diagnostics. [email protected] and ask their opinion. The other similar option is to talk to Pete Bell at BAS remaps.

Be careful, dont make any changes until you have spoken to either Pete Bell or GAP first. You could easily brick the ECM.

When you connect to the car you see on the display what firmware is loaded by pressing "more" at the top of the screen. Alternatively connect to the IID updater where it will be displayed Thumbs Up

Does the EGR have blanking plates installed or just deleted in the software?

Even if they are deleted on the software but not physically blanked off they can cause this when they fail.

You can't delete egrs, only the EML request.

It depends on what exactly was done to the ECM and there are no easy answers without interrogation of the ECM. If the EGR's are disconnected the ECM may have been remapped in an attempt to eliminate them instead of a software patch. Perhaps it is this which has somehow gone wrong.

Can you still see the EGR's physically attached to the engine? There is one on each side just below the engine cover.
