Spot lights and light bars - where have you mounted yours?
I’m now in my second winter with the disco and I’m struggling to live with the standard headlamps off road.
I’ve been toying with the idea of installing some improved lighting but I’m getting bogged down by what’s best.
So now I’m here looking to the forum for pictures for inspiration. What have you guys got, where have you mounted it, do you recommend and do you have any helpful tips and advice for me before I make my decision?
Thanks in advance, and I can’t wait to see some pictures!12 months of D3 ownership have passed and I’m still loving it!

You need to set a budget first off… there are many options of which Lazer lights are of the best but you’ll pay for those!I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

A realistic budget would be no more than £200 for parts. I’m allowing for £150 fitting costs on top of that.12 months of D3 ownership have passed and I’m still loving it!

I had this question earlyer in a Pm from gstuart
And since my spots can also be fitted on a D3/4 without a ARB bumper, that answer is still relevant i think
And this is a copy from my answer to gstuart then:
——
when i was able to buy a ARB de luxe winch bumper at a trade price (i own a company and one of my suppliers is a ARB wholesale dealer, what i did not know at first Wink )
That bumper need slightly different cable lengths…or better… i found it easyer not to use the OEM LR one due to the plug layout at the spotlight end.. .It was then i decided to make my own cable loom with 2 relays and separate fuse for each LED spotlight, together wit a OEM LR dash switch both fuses have a 15 amp rating
This is the wiring schematic i used.. as a startingpoint (as said, i added an extra relay)
But as said, fused for each light..
And i use these spots
Works like a charm!
Cargo 172059 should be readily available in the UK for approx 117 gbp each..
Weight: 1,61 kg
Volt 10-30, Watt 60, Type LED measurements mm 222x177.8x79, , Material alloy and Polycarbonate lens, IP:67, Kelvin: 6000, Lumen: 5400,
The “rings” can be wired as daytime runninglights ( ignition on, light switch off, daytime running lights=on)
They look like this
And in the dark
Daytime running light looks like this
But if you don’t like the daylightrunning option, just don’t wire it ….
have a video, made in the dark, with the effective output to see
They add a lot of light…
I went for the Prospeed light bar mount Adam then put 4 Lumise lights https://www.lumise.eu/auxiliary-lights/led...020100561/ on it. It's like driving in daylight now and, all in including fitting and the light bar for sub-£600

Have you got basic halogen headlights or Xenon ones?
Easiest upgrade is Xenon headlights. Usually some for sale here on Ebay etc.
I have added a pair of Lightforce HiD spots to the LR mounting posts, which were already fitted when I bought the D3, but with no aux lights fitted to them.

First - nice bumper, nice lights and nice setup
Second - I thought installation of “ARB style” wide bull bars was outlawed in EU as of 2007? Only small low-profile chromed bars (tubes), that can barely hold two spots or one led bar, and that fit between the car’s regular lights and do not come all the way up to the bonnet are allowed?
Is there a national exception in NL or is it just that Finnish authorities have decided to interpret something in their own skewed way? I mean wouldn’t be the first time the latter happens.
My L320 has the LR twin fishtanks driving lights in the bumper and two LED light-bars - the one on the roof mounted on magnetic brackets.
Lightbars vs full-beam + driving lamps.

Hi Kajzu,
Thnx..
Regarding the legislation for the ARB or equal full bullbar bumpers…
The rule applies for motors first registrerd from 1 january 2007 and ON, not for motors before 2007..
Since i have a ‘05 plate, this bumper is allowed (here in The Netherlands)
But what you mean with
Quote:
that fit between the car’s regular lights and do not come all the way up to the bonnet are allowed?
I have no idea, can you explain further?Best regards
Harold

Huh, I didn’t realize it applied for the vehicle’s year of manufacture or registration. I assumed it was blanket ban on all installations after 2007. Need to investigate further…

Ah! Understand now… well it is “all” or nothing for me regarding this… those chrome tubing is quit ugly TBH The LR OEM “rubber” big bumper looks nice, but that’s it…
I wanted 2 big round spotlights… LR OEM fitment on a standard bumper is more difficult now since the OEM fitment kit is not available anymore and though it can be made as a diy job, the covers are the bigest problem if you want a neat fitment….
I also wanted a winch…. And though we don’t have kangeroo’s here it was 1:1 for me for the ARB…
So to the topic owner, think how you want to fit them before you buy…
@kajzu: so you can order your ARB bumper now Best regards
Harold

Hi
Really liking the spots and thanks for sharing the pics, funny enough have halogens on mine and got a pair of xenons to upgrade them, also bought a pair of 9 x inch spots that I’ll mount onto my A bar, that’s when I get round to fitting that as well
More than likely in the spring as to be honest no point working in the cold when it’s not necessary , lol, just placed a spotlight on the A bar, thank god I measured it right as they will just about fit by the time I fit the bracket
Do really like the way members do all different mods
