| Torque converter change, gearbox too? |

My 275000 kilometres 2005 D3 auto has a bad TC. I have owned this car from new, and I'm pretty sure I have a bad TC because the last 80000kms or so i have been flushing the gearbox and treating with dr tranny every time i get the juddering on acceleration, and this usually does the trick.
Last time i did this, about 1000kms ago, this worked fine, but now i have a different vibration.
Not a judder on acceleration, but just a general vibration when powering on on flat roads.
So I'm happy to change the TC, and would do this myself, but I'm wondering if I should get the gearbox overhauled too?
What are your thoughts?
I've not been driving it around (much) with the vibrations, and it has not been overheating.
I can also understand why a garage would want to overhaul the gearbox at the same time, to be sure that they had fixed the problem. But the situation with a home mechanic is different, if he has to take the gearbox out a second time its a  , I know, but a chance he may be willing to take.
If anyone has been there and done it, let me know!

With out sorting the box out you will be in the same situation in about 2k miles, the failing TC is symptom of the GB input shaft bearing and seals worn, this causes low oil pressure to the GB clutches with the resulting judder caused by the clutches slipping.
All that Dr tranny does is swell the seals to make them seal temporarily. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

at that mileage do the box as well, if you have the space they aren't a difficult box to rebuild.
When it come time i will pull mine and do it myself.

Thanks, I may do this myself, do you have any info on this? I have only ever rebuilt my old series 3 gearbox
